Cruise Cafe` Q&A
Posted Tue, Apr 22nd 2008, 17:16Join our blog and share your cruising experience with like-minded travelers. Think of us as neighborhood cheers bar, or a local coffeehouse. So if you are sipping a cocktail or a Starbucks, planning a cruise or just returned, do tell! We like to refer to our blog as the Cruise Cafe` Q&A and want to be a forum and also a place to ask questions. Cheers, Gwenyth

As kd lang would say (sing), I'm a big-boned gal and I love to cruise. I would love to pick up some tee, polos or hoodies from the cruise gift shop - but even 2x is way too small. I'm not as big as many I see and wonder where these vendors get the stuff made. Give us plus size folks a break!

Why is single travel so expensive? I hate sharing a cruise cabin but paying double seems so unfair!

Bill: I hear this a lot and have myself paid the price of being a single cruiser. The cruise lines base their revenu on cabins, not individuals, so it is the cabin rate you're paying. Also, it is not a case of one person eats less because the cruise makes most of its money on the excursions, drinks, and things you buy, so again it is one less consumer to them. Some lines do match up singles if that is an option for you.

Pat - I feel your pain. I'm a double x lady too and prefer my casual clothes baggy rather than fitted, so yes, it is hard to find stuff in the onboard gift shops. Anyone out there with some ideas or contacts?
